Recruitment

Recruitment & Selection

In order to maintain its position as a leader in the field of educational provision, City of Limerick VEC attracts, recruits, inducts and retains staff of the highest calibre for its educational, learner and support programmes and provides them with a working environment that generates commitment and encourages them in their professional and personal development. Progressive human resource policies have been adopted to ensure effective recruitment and retention strategies, flexible employment practices, attractive career prospects and opportunities for professional advancement with a remuneration system that is fair and equitable.

The recruitment and selection procedures are designed to ensure that City of Limerick VEC recruits staff who supports its mission and vision and who are committed to the achievement of the strategic objectives of its learners in the fulfilment of their individual aspirations and goals in terms of learning and personal development.

Recruitment and selection of staff is, for the most part, by means of competency based interviews, though, in addition, other elements of selection may be included in particular situations.

The VEC has a comprehensive Code of Practice for the employment of persons with disabilities and the principles set down in the Code are incorporated in its recruitment procedures.
